This is my red belly pacu. You see him in a 90 gallon tank, which he is a little big for. I do feel bad for him, but he was rescued from something worse. Last I measured him he was 20 inches in length. The pleco on the glass just above his tail is a 12.5 inches long. The tanks has been changed a little since the pic. Now has a black light for night time (which is filtered by the water to look really cool) and during the day he gets regular sunlight because he never liked the regular light fixture for some reason. I took the pic. trying to develope some photography skills, hope you don't think its to bad.

i use little as a phrase especially since ive seen how big the other one in the tank is and pacu's bigger than that. I keep forgetting which one is the violent one.

Damn right, and hes very tame too. Eats out of my hand, and I can rub his sides with my hand, which he seems to enjoy, although its bad for him so I don't do it that often. :=D:

this is acutaly a black pacu LOL i have two red belly pacu (both 12 inches long) and i have wanted a black pacu soooooooo bad but thats what this is you can tell by the coloration and shape of his fins.... do you have any idea how big he can get LOL....

I was wondering why he never really looked all the red, though he does get a little red under his belly. Wonder if he really is a black pacu, I heard that they are rather rare in captivity. And yes, I know how big he can get, been considering in donating him to an instituion like the UW or something that has a really large aquarium. I rescued him myself from another owner. Can you prove this is a black pacu? Links to pics for instance?
